In this book, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew narrates how he is committed to changing Singapore from a former English colony where language is complicated into a united country where most people are good at English and their native language. As the state-founding Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew confronts a huge political challenge and he insists on that English should be used as a lingua franca among different nationalities. However, he also believes that the national confidence and cultural identity would be lost if English were the sole allowed language.
