The author of this book, a former director of the Central Bank of Iran research department, has examined the Central Bank's policies during the eight-year war between Iran and Iraq. The study, which focuses on economic information, statistical data, and experiences of the author, begins with Iran economic policies from the fifties, characterized by the sudden upsurge in oil revenues, continues with the early state-sponsored economic policies of the early Iranian revolution, and ends with the developments of the war era economic policies. The study reviews economic policies under three stages of the Iran/Iraq war: the beginning of the war, the period of relative economic recovery, and era of economic recession. The book analyzes many lost economic opportunities in each of these phases. The Iranian wartime economic policies present a clear guide to understanding, and shed light upon, Iran' economic situation of today.
