Patrick Süskind is the most popular writer in Germany in recent years. And his novel Perfume: The Story of a Murderer is the most popular best seller in Germany. With a creative designation and profound implication, it has been ranking first in the best seller list of Germany since its publication in 1985 and has been translated into over 30 languages. The movie based on the novel won a box office reture of over 100 million euros with an investment of 50 million euros. It was nominated for eight awards at the annual German Film Prize ceremony and won six of them including photography, fine arts, editing and acoustics.
