As a master work, the full-length novel is authored by Guy de Maupassant, a famous French novelist. Duroy, a junior officer of French colonization force in Algeria, come to Paris and is hired in a newspaper office as an editor. Relying on his handsome appearance and means of pleasing women, he tries to seduce ladies of high degree, and manipulate them to pave the way for success. Finally, he lures the daughter of the boss of the newspaper office and compels him to marry his daughter to him. Duroy acts as editor in chief of the newspaper. The end of the novel suggests that he will act as senate and minister, and has an even brighter future.
