This volume of essays deals with the growing number of members of the Jewish population who are unmarried. While Orthodox Jews traditionally marry earlier than other groups, the number of unmarried Jews is now higher than ever before. The phenomenon is discussed from many perspectives: the purpose of marriage, the Talmudic approach to marriage, and how unmarried adults should be integrated into the Orthodox community. These essays originated as papers delivered during the Orthodox Forum in New York City in 2005. Annotation ©2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
