'In 2016, I lived in Tokyo alone for one year and Tokyo saved me.' Invited by The Japan Foundation, Jiang Fangzhou lived alone in Tokyo for a year. She grew fond of writing long diaries more and more and was not perturbed by the thought of living in solitude for an entire lifetime. There are a total of 46 diaries, including her latest short stories, speeches and reviews, which cover society, art and situations in China and Japan. She has authored in a rather unique fashion whilst illuatrating serious depiction and thinking. Concurrently, it is also a medical history, recording the effort one needs to pay to become what he or she intends to be. "The one year in Tokyo has not turned me into a new leaf; it merely moulded me into more of what I ought to become."
