Of all the Dunhuang frescoes, the most notable ones are various musical dances on top of flying Apsaras. During the 1000 years from the Beiliang to the Yuan dynasty, the type of musical dances kept changing. The Mogao Caves in Dunhuang can be regarded as a dictionary of musical dances. They have kept a variety of musical dances of different images and postures. The bands, dances for one or two people depicted in such places as magnificent buildings and performance halls constitute a treasure in China's art. This book, a copy of musical dances in Dunhuang frescoes, is undobutedly a collectors item.
