The book collects sixteen short stories written by Osamu Dazai. These works present the brightness and warmth of a lantern, totally against the decadence, self-reproach and self-denial, which are the stereotyped impression held by people about Osamu Dazai. The book includes four volumes. There are only weak people instead of evil people in Dazai's stories. But weakness is not a sin since weakness will allow us to feel the soft feelings more easily and deeply. Though mentally painful and physically exhausted, Dazai is always doing his best to create a kind of joyful atmosphere. Dazai himself is right a sad comedy. He is extremely selfish in the eyes of the public, but actually he always cares about the feelings of other people. Perhaps he believes that he will get warm if he treats people around him softly.
