
This monograph studies the interaction of the two levels of the hierarchy of the Russian state, supreme level and governors, in the first half of the 19th century. The author analyzes the selection of candidates for the governor position, their authority, economic resources, symbolic signs of their power, writing styles of their reports and other business related writings.
