Bathing is the first full-length novel of new China that reflects ideological remoulding of intellectuals. It uses a political activity as background to describe all kinds of intellectuals in that age. They did need ideological remoulding, but what was the result of the remoulding? This novel is called the new Scholars in Chinese modern literature.
