YA-- After a brief introduction to the history of space exploration from 1957 to the present, Booth discusses current, near future, and far future manned and unmanned exploration of space. Nearly two-thirds of the book is composed of colorful illustrations that are beautiful, dramatic, educational, and labeled in concise detail. The format is faintly reminiscent of that used by the various Time-Life series. The viewpoints are those of scientists and futurists from around the world. The text that accompanies each two-page treatment is clear, factual, and up-to-date, discussing the flaws in the newly launched Hubble Space Telescope. A well-organized resource for earth science or physics reports.
