Roman Ingarden (18931970) was one of those phenomenologists who never accepted Husserl's transcendental idealism. He devoted a great part of his intellectual energy to "preparatory" analytical studies in which he hoped to develop an ontological framework suitable for refutation of Husserl's idealistic doctrine. Contributors include Arkadiusz Chrudzimski (Szczecin and Salzburg), Gregor Haefliger (Fribourg), Guido Kng (Fribourg), Jeff Mitscherling (Guelph), Andrzej Pltawski (Cracow), Peter Simons (Leeds), Edward Swiderski (Fribourg), Amie L. Thomasson (Miami), and Daniel von Wachter (Munich).
Arkadiusz Chrudzimski is professor of philosophy at the University of Salzburg, Austria and at the University of Zielona Gra (Poland).
