The text includes numerous worked-out examples, and all the steps involved in the solution of a problem are explained in detail. It incorporates numerous diagrams to illustrate the principles discussed. It also provides questions set in university examinations.
The book is specifically written for the first year B.E./B.Tech. students of all branches to address the course curriculum in Engineering Mechanics of most universities.
New to this edition:
Sections on force and systems, basic laws of mechanics, solving problems in mechanics (free-body diagram) and some illustrations for drawing free-body diagrams, impulse momentum theorem, equilibrium of a particle and a body, beam with distributed load, Coulomb s law of friction and plane curvilinear motion as well as D Alembert s principle.
Several illustrative examples taken from recent examination papers, and exercises.
