
Refugees, particularly political refugees, as a legal category and social reality emerged at the beginning of the twentieth century after two social cataclysms: WW1 and revolution of 1917. Thousands of people left Russia for Europe and other parts of the world. About 47 countries accepted refugees from Russia. The League of Nations was chosen to establish a legal and organizational procedure for solving this problem. This book is a collection of 101 documents and materials from the League of Nations and several recipient countries on the settlement, return to the country of origin, and regulation of the legal status of refugees from Russia in 1920-1930s.
