Who Could Have Predicted Thirty Years Ago, The Extraordinary Progress Made By Amazonian Archeology Since That Time. In The 80s, Only A Handful Of Researchers Were Dedicated To The Study Of The Human Past Of The Largest Tropical Forest In The World. Due To The Scarcity Of The Works, Data From Other Disciplines Were Easily Used And Without Prior Critical Evaluation. Thus, The Picture Of The Contemporary Amerindian Amazon (figure 1) - Or To Put It In Another Clearer Way, The Most Outstanding Prejudices - Was Simply Described In What Should Have Been The Pre-columbian World: Limited And Semi-nomadic Tribes, Acephalous Structures, A Primitive Agricultural Technology, A Rough Handicraft, A Limited Demography Of 0.5 Inhabitants / Km2, Etc. More Than A Cliché, It Was A Scientific Heresy. In Effect, It Was To Completely Ignore The Impact Of The Conquest And Its Devastating Consequences On A World That Is Elaborately Elaborated But Also Fragile. Moreover, The Very Reason Of This Pre-columbian Underdevelopment Was Imputed To The Tropical Forest. Because Of A Medium Considered By The Westerners As Extremely Unfavorable, No Advanced Society Could Have Grown In This Jungle Sub-continent. Today We Know That This Is Not The Case And That, On The Contrary, Highly Respected Civilizations Saw The Light Of Day In Very Distant Times In Amazonia Embellishing Itself Especially For The Privilege Of Having Invented The Pottery And Domesticated Various Plants. Amazonian Archeology It Changed Radically In The Face And Today There Are Hundreds Of Researchers Who Dedicate Themselves To The First Societies Of The Nearly 7 Million Km2 Of Equatorial Forest. This Boom Is Due To Three Main Factors. In The First Place, The Amazonian Environment, Once Considered An Inexhaustible Mine Of Products Destined For Industrialized Society2, Was Re-evaluated, Transforming Itself Into An Island Of Unique Biodiversity Essential For The Survival Of Humanity. What Does Not Prevent Him From Continuing To Be The Victim Of Dramatic Ecological Exactions, But The World Society Knows Now And Has Even Taken Conscience Of The Negative Consequences Of His Criminal Acts Against Nature. The Search Has Then Intensified To Better Understand And Perhaps Coexist With This Diverse Green Entity.
