The grand Mogul: Imperial painting in India, 1600-1660

This is a richly illustrated oversize book, the catalogue accompanying an exhibition of paintings that were presented in several art galleries and museums in New York City and New England in 1978-79. It has a Foreword, Preface, Introduction to the characteristics and history of Mughal painting, a Postscript by Stuart Cary Welch of the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard, and an extensive bibliography. The paintings are in black & white and color, with extensive explanatory captions.
