This is the history of the Russian state of the 16th-early 17th century and of the Time of Troubles. Tsar Boris Godunov (1598-1605) and Grigorii Otrep'ev (Dmitrii the Pretender, 1605-1606) are in the center of this unique historical study. R. Skrynnikov (d. 2009) discovered a many new facts about Otrep'ev and wrote his biography for the first time in Russian historiography. Comments.
