In 1965, Catherine van Moppès wrote a documentary book about her life experiences and feelings from interviews in China. The book of French Version was quickly recognized in best-seller list after its publication, introduced and serialized by various newspapers and magazines, as one of major works to help French people know about China,playing an important role in explaining the course of New China to the western countries. By means of close observation and fine and smooth style of writing, the author portrays a profile of socialist countries in 1960s, especially of China, from a different perspective. In the process of narration, Catherine expressed the yearning and profound feelings for China.
