From Library Journal Writing from the premise that America has lost its dominance in the world economy, Behrman (University of North Carolina) indicts management and government for ignoring our lack of competitiveness and proposes a reordering of world trade patterns. To redress the problem and to move the world economy toward a new order, he suggests certain sectorial and regional agreements based on the principles of efficiency, equity, and participation. His reasonable approach is long on generalities but short on specifics. Recommended for larger libraries as a concise summary of U.S. trade woes and a plan for amelioration. Richard C.
