The new circle of the richest and most influential people in Russian society is called the "oligarchs". This is close to English tycoons or magnates. This book analyzes integrated current business groups, the main form of big business in modern Russia. The author studies their history, the mechanism of their development and expansion, their current structure, their relations with the government. Analysis is done on two levels: in the economy as whole and within their industry. The author draws profiles of several of the largest business-groups.
