Product Description Innovations in Road, Railway and Airfield Bearing Capacity – Volume 3 comprises the third part of contributions to the 11th International Conference on Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields (2022). In anticipation of the event, it unveils state-of-the-art information and research on the latest policies, traffic loading measurements, in-situ measurements and condition surveys, functional testing, deflection measurement evaluation, structural performance prediction for pavements and tracks, new construction and rehabilitation design systems, frost affected areas, drainage and environmental effects, reinforcement, traditional and recycled materials, full scale testing and on case histories of road, railways and airfields. This edited work is intended for a global audience of road, railway and airfield engineers, researchers and consultants, as well as building and maintenance companies looking to further upgrade their practices in the field. About the Author Inge Hoff started his research career in the independent research organization SINTEF (Norway) doing contracted research projects for 10 years. Most of the projects were laboratory-based projects on materials for pavement construction. Dr. Hoff was appointed to professor in 2009 and has been working at NTNU since then. He was a supervisor of 13 completed Ph.D. projects, and is currently supervising six Ph.D. students. Dr. Hoff has authored more than 100 scientific and popular scientific papers and is an active reviewer for several international scientific journals. In addition, he has authored several SINTEF reports. Dr. Hoff is the leader of the research laboratory for materials for transport infrastructure at NTNU. The laboratory is used for education of master’s and Ph.D. students, project-based testing for industry, and research purposes.Rabbira Garba Saba obtained his Dr.Eng degree in pavement engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2002. His doctoral thesis focused on the permanent deformation properties of asphalt mixtures. From 2002 to 2004 he worked as post-doctoral researcher at NTNU. Since 2004 he has been working at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, pavement technology section, mainly working with research and development (R&D) in the area of pavement engineering. He has been involved in several R &D projects in the area of pavement performance modeling, environmentally friendly pavements, field performance monitoring, long-life pavements and analytical pavement design. He has also been involved in several Nordic, European, and international cooperation projects in the area of pavement engineering. Helge Mork obtained his Dr.Eng. degree in pavement engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH) 1990. He worked as a researcher at SINTEF Highway Engineering 1984-1985 and 1989, and has been an associate professor at NTH/NTNU since 1990, mainly working with bearing capacity issues and analytical pavement design. He has supervised PhD and master students at NTNU, and been in the assessment committee for PhD’s in Norway and Sweden. He has been in the organizing committee for the BCRA/BCRRA conferences in Trondheim since 1998, and been in the International Advisory Committee for the BCRRA conferences outside Norway since 2008. He has been in several European, Nordic and national technical committees on pavement assessment and design since 1995.
