Thirty-one papers, from an International Congress held in Wuerzburg in 2001, examine the relationship between religion and philosophy during Late Antiquity. Subjects include metaphysics and religion, Christianity and Platonism, Plato's successors, philosophy and religion, religion and literature. Contributors also reflect on past and present scholarship on Late Antique philosophy. These are scholarly papers, many of which comprise detailed textual analyses of both philosophical and theological works or concepts, with not all extracts translated. Ten papers in English, three in French, two in Italian, the rest in German.
