About the Author
Richard Clément is presently Director of the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa. He is also professor of psychology and incumbent of the Chair on Bilingualism and Society. His field of specialization is related to issues of language learning motivation, intergroup relations and communication, identity change, social adjustment and linguistic planning. His research has been published in America and Europe in both French and English. He was elected Fellow of both the Canadian and American Psychological associations. In 2008, he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Caroline Andrew is the Director of the Centre on Governance of the University of Ottawa. Her research fields are municipal politics and urban development, particularly as they relate to the link between community groups seeking equity and local governments. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership (OLIP) and of the Community-University Research Alliance (CURA), Welcoming Communities. She is also a member of the board of the initiative, A City for All Women, and President of the board of Women in Cities International.
