Manfred Fuhrmann, 1925-2005, gilt als einer der überragenden Altphilologen seiner Generation und als akkurater Übersetzer mit großem sprachlichen Feingefühl. Die vorliegende Übersetzung wurde 1990 von der Deutschen Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung, Darmstadt, ausgezeichnet.
