Product Description In the sixth century BC the Greeks established the city of Poseidonia in the Sele Plain of Campania, Italy, in the area settled by an indigenous Italic population. Mikels Skele presents evidence from the Capodifiume survey of the region which provides insights into the nature of the interactiom between indigenous and colonising populations. Rather than finding evidence of tension, hostility and military domination, Skele presents data from the location and nature of cemeteries and sanctuaries and pottery, for example, to suggest that relations were cordial and even collaborative.
