This is the first publication of 131 letters from Russian writers to Prince Aleksandr Borisovich Kurakin (1752-1818). The Prince got the nickname of "Prince Splendid" and "friend of tsars" (Pavel Petrovich and Mariia Fedorovna). Kurakin was also famous for his support of the arts and literature, writers and historians. Also included are a biography of the prince, and two articles by Druzhinin. One article is on the history of his personal archive and another on the history of the translation of Fonvizin's work "Life of N.I. Panin" from French to Russian by Prince Kurakin. Name index.
