This is an interesting account of the perils of sea faring in the early days of British trading. Giving accounts of various trials and privations of the ships, the author frequently quotes from the journals kept by the captain of the ships. The time period of the accounts is from the 1680's to the 1720's. It traces the origin of European piracy off the coast of Malabar and Arabia and gives an account of 2 famous pirates Captain Kidd and Conajee Angaria among other accounts of the occupation of an English governor called Boone, the conduct of the company's servants, expeditions against various pirates and pirate dens and an account of Bombay.
