Emil Friedrich Kautzsch (1841-1910) studied at the University of Leipzig where he later was appointed to the faculty. He held professorships at the Universities of Basel, Tübingen, and finally, Halle. Kautzsch was also notable one of the founders of the German Palestine Exploration Society. He published other works on Semitic grammar but is best known for his edition of Gesenius Grammar. Andrew Bruce Davidson (1831-1902) began his education at the University of Aberdeen before moving on to the University of Edinburgh, at which he eventually became Professor. Although he wrote several commentaries, he is best known for his grammatical studies of the Hebrew language.
