The Society of Lovers of Russian Literacy (Obshchestvo Liubitelei Russkoi Slovesnosti), founded in 1811 and revitalized in 1992, celebrated the 200th anniversary of the world renowned Russian lexicographer and philologist Vladimir Dal' (1801-1872). This collection consists of three parts. Part one includes jubilee speeches of P.I. Mel'nikov-Pecherskii and I.S. Aksakov in the memory of V.I. Dal' in 1873. Part two is a bibliography and essay on the history of studying language and folklore by members of the Society in 1811-1930, including works by V. Dal'. Part three covers presentations about Dal's legacy in the Society's meetings. Parts four and five discuss the actual issues of teaching Dal's works in high schools.
