Subtitled `The interaction between Greek and Egyptian traditions', this thesis aims to establish a chronology for developments in the portrayal of the Ptolemaic royal family. Sally-Ann Ashton catalogues 70 examples of Ptolemaic royal portraiture, gathered from museum collections around the world, and considers the function and audience of the different types of portrait that she identifies.
