An investigation of the cultural and ritual significance behind the placing of personal ornaments in certain contexts, notably temples, shrines and burials. Drawing throughout on archaeological and iconographic evidence, Puttock examines the votive role of Romano-British jewellery and trinkets and highlights their association with health and fertility, young women and children.
