Excavations at Kandahar 1974 and 1975: The first two seasons at Shahr-i Kohna (Old Kandahar) conducted by the British Institute of Afghan Studies

Kandahar is one of the key sites for the historical periods for the Indo-Iranian borderlands region - all major periods are represented from the Iron age to the Islamic Conquest. The site is of major military and stratgic significance with material relatin to cultures poorly served by archaeology, such as the Sakas, Indo-Parthians and Hepthalites.
