Product Description
Not daunted by the fact that much of the archaeological evidence for Paleo-Christian Argos lies buried beneath the modern city, this study aims to trace the urban development of the city from the 4th to 7th century AD. After setting the geographical and historical scene of Late Antique Argos, Oikonomou-Laniado turns her attention to the major buildings and monuments of the city beginning with the Agora and then to other buildings within the centre. Descriptions of fortifications, acqueducts, ecclesiastical architecture, cemeteries, ceramic evidence, funerary inscriptions and domestic settlements follow, ending with a conclusion outlining the chronological development of Argos during this period. French text.
