This is a biography of Russian Tsarina Anna Leopol'dovna (Elisabeth Katharina Christine, Prinzessin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin; 1718-1746). She married Prince Anton Ulrich, a son of Herzog von Braunschweig-Wolfenbuttel, in 1739. The coup d’etat of 1741 divided his life into two parts. In the first part he was a Russian generalissimo, a cavalier of the highest Russian rank, and father of the future Russian emperor. In the second part, which lasted for thirty long years, he was a prisoner without a name. Anna Leopol'dovna was the regent of her son, Russian Emperor Ivan VI (The third tsar but the fourth grand duke with this name, 1740-41.) His reign was very short. He spent the rest of his life in the Shlisselburg Fortress. (0.365 kg.) Also available: Levin, Leonid.
