This all-embracing control and active direction of creative processes not only related to press and publishing, but also extended to interfere with the private lives of writers and journalists, and deciding matters of their personal lives and deaths. The system was initiated by Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin. Later on, for 30 years Stalin remained the main censor, editor, critic and a "model" author in the land of Soviets. This volume includes 473 documents on censorship of literature and journalism, reference materials, bibliography and indices.
