Ha-yesod: Fundamentals of Hebrew

A comprehensive step-by-step textbook teaching modern Hebrew language and grammar, geared especially to the needs of the English speaking student. Possible difficulties in understanding are anticipated and clarified in advance through careful explanations of Hebrew grammar, sen-tence structure, and modern usage. The readings are taken from a vast range of Hebrew literature―ancient, medieval, and modern―and recast in language that fully illustrates the grammar, idioms, and vocabulary of the particular lesson, in addition to reviewing what was learned in previous lessons. Exercises are geared toward strengthening the students’ abilities to compose correct Hebrew sentences as well as reinforcing their vocabulary and grammar.
This textbook, now revised and augmented, has been adopted by many universities and other schools. It is also recommended to anyone who wishes to teach himself.
