This volume examines the state of historical narrative at the beginning of the 21 st century with a focus on German texts. It looks at the forms and functions of novelistic narratives in both aesthetically sophisticated and popular writing, in different fictional genres. It illuminates innovations vis-à-vis the classical historical novel and today's experience-oriented, de-hierarchized, and hybrid historical culture.
