The Dictionnaire de l'anthroponymie romane (PatRom) is a genetic dictionary of personal names; it comprises 6 volumes (with part-volumes). The Bibliographie des sources historiques together with the Cahier des Normes rédactionelles and the secondary literature (Vol. I, 1) provide the basis and nucleus of the PatRom dictionary. It records the medieval sources (documents or lists of names), the evaluation of which forms the basis of each article in the PatRom. In addition, various indexes of sigla and abbreviations facilitate access to the historical documentation.
