Algebraic K-Theory and Its Applications: Proceedings of the Workshop and Symposium: ICTP, Trieste, Italy, 1-19 September 1997

The conference was comprised of a workshop that explained the fundamentals of the field for young scholars thinking of dipping into it, and a symposium in which research mathematicians presented recent results. The six expository lectures, one in French, include discussions of hypoelliptic operators, algebraic geometry, and values of zeta functions. Among the 15 selected research results are the plus-construction as a localization, indecomposable motive cohomology classes on quartic surfaces and on cubic fourfolds, simplification schemes and Adams operations, and determinant-like functions for matrices over finite dimensional division algebras.
