Islamic Law and Governance in Contemporary Iran : Transcending Islam for Social, Economic, and Political Order

This book examines Islamization of the law in the Islamic Republic of Iran and surveys the evolution of institutions, processes, and policies of the regime. It underscores the regime’s willingness to transcend the restrictive precepts of Islam in the interest of social, economic, and political order, a strategy that could guide other Islamists in their search for indigenous Islamist models of development elsewhere.
