Product Description State and voluntary resettlement agencies (VOLAGs) affect the settlement patterns of refugees across the US. However, long-standing, widely supported migration models have largely neglected the role of these intermediaries in the process of resettlement. Mott considers the processes that underlie settlement and adaptation patterns with particular attention given to the intermediary role of resettlement programs and voluntary resettlement agencies, and she evaluates the effectiveness of these agencies. She asks what factors affect the choice of destination locations of refugees and what factors influence the adaptation of refugees once they have arrived in the US? About the Author Tamar Mott earned her PhD from Ohio State University in 2006. She is currently a researcher and lecturer in the Department of Geography at that University.
