Research and survey papers from a June 2003 meeting are collected here. They discuss recent progress in the Jacobian conjecture and affine algebraic geometry and consider open problems in these areas. Some subjects examined include purely inseparable k-forms of affine algebraic curves, bad field generators, coordinates in ideals of polynomial algebras, and equivariant cancellation for algebraic varieties. Other subjects include construction of polynomial mappings using non-commutative algebras, orders of points on elliptic curves, and test polynomials and the Jacobian conjectures. The book is suitable for graduate students and research mathematicians interested in algebraic geometry. There is no subject index. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
