This book contains the proceedings of a July 2007 conference, offering five invited survey papers as well as original research articles covering theoretical and applied areas related to finite fields. The papers reflect the growing importance of finite fields, and of the computational and algorithmic aspects of finite field problems, in the mathematical and computer science communities, in areas such as number theory, algebra, computer science, statistics, and engineering. Some specific topics covered include analysis and optimization of elliptic-curve single-scalar multiplication, subsequences of Sidelnikov sequences, Dickson polynomial permutations, and discrete logarithms in curves over finite fields. There is no subject index. Annotation ©2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
