The colloquium, to be held every three years, was established in 1994, a year after mathematician Lipman Bers died; his colleague Lars Ahlfors died the year after the first meeting, which will henceforth be called The Ahlfors-Bers Colloquium . It will continue to focus on topics in modern function theory, such as Riemann surfaces, Kleinian groups Teichmnller theory, complex dynamics, hyperbolic geometry, and manifolds of two and three dimensions. The 27 papers include the six invited lectures and a selection of contributions. No index. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
