The proceedings of the 2006 AMS-IMS-SIAM Joint Conference are presented in this volume, which includes research papers addressing the incomplete work in the mathematical fields of harmonic analysis and the representation theory of Lie groups. Editors Arthur, Schmid and Trapa (American Mathematical Association) have aimed this research at graduate students and mathematicians in the field, and include articles about considerations of the trace formula, transfer factors associated with real reductive groups, weighted orbital integral objects and unitarizability of real and p-adic groups. Some of the conference was devoted to Atlas, a new computer program used to explore the representations of real reductive groups. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
