Matrices in control theory with applications to linear programming

Matrices play a fundamental role in the so-called modern theory of linear control systems.The primary aim of this book is to try to reduce this rather wasteful expenditure of effort by presenting a collection of some of the more interesting and useful recent developments in the applications of matrices to control theory and related topics. In order to make the results accessible to as wide an audience as possible, a special feature of this book is that no knowledge of the concepts of vector spaces is required, all development being entirely in matrix terms. In this sense the treatment throughout is elementary and essentially straightforward.
