This book is a not a biography but rather an attempt to create a portrait of Sergei Ivanovich Taneev, an outstanding musician and personality. The author, Leonid Sabaneev (1881-1968), a musical and literary critic of the period called the Silver Age, was Taneev's student and then a friend and colleague of this outstanding figure for 25 years.
