The volume Burguesia y capitalismo en Monterrey 1850-1910 examines the emergence and consolidation of the mechanisms of capitalist production in Northeastern Mexico since Texas became part of United States until 1910's Revolution. It is a step-by-step analysis of the birth and articulation of its main beneficiary: a new bourgeois class with a regional base in Monterrey which was structured as a fraction of the modern Mexican ruling class during the twenty years that preceded the revolution; businessmen that widely prospered under the conditions set by the Porfiriato and that showed an undeniable capacity of development at a national level during the present century.
