Kolchak (1873-1920) who by a capricious turn of historical events became an admiral and the head of the Russian government in Siberia. He was a participant in three Arctic expeditions, defended the Russian port of Port Arthur, led the Black Sea fleet in WWI. In the middle of the Civil War he became the commander-in-chief of the White Army, overturned Soviet power in the Far East, and created the short lived Far Eastern Republic with its capital in Omsk.
