This textbook consists of two parts. The first, Theory of Russian Poetry and Stylistics in the 18th Century, shows how poetry developed in the context of various poetical styles of this epoch: Baroque, Neoclassical, Sentimental, and pre-Romantic. The second part, Poetry of 1730-1790s, studies works of the leading Russian poets of this period: Trediakovskii, Lomonosov, Sumarokov and his school, Kheraskov, M. Murav'ev, Karamzin, Derzhavin, Dmitriev, Krylov, and Batiushkov.
